MENTORING WRITERS NEW YEAR 2023 WRITING COMPETITION
OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS -
Following the success of our previous Writing Competitions, we are pleased to announce the New Year 2023 Writing Competition. The competition is open to all writers of any age regardless of their writing experience. All you need is imagination and the ability to put words down on paper.
For this competition, we would like you to rewrite History. In other words, we want you to take a scene from history, a book, theatre or a film, and rewrite it in anyway that suits you.
For example: Let’s take the biting of the apple by Eve. What do you think happened? Or, when the Titanic sank were all those people drowned, or were they whisked away by aliens? Maybe Mr Darcy didn’t end up marrying Elizabeth after all? Perhaps she decided to run away with another man or maybe a woman?
In this competition, the world is your oyster and the story you write is down to your imagination with the interpretation being what you think could have happened instead of what did. Make it humorous, sad, sweet, romantic, chaotic, mysterious, anything you like. This is creating an alternate world. Your world, so go for it.
THE RULES:
As the writer, you can choose the historical event (actual event, book or film scene) you wish to write about.
The maximum word limit is up to 5000 words.
THE PRIZES:
Each winning entrant will be included in an anthology book to be published by Pen & Ink Designs Publishing and to be made available from the end of October 2023.
Each winning entrant will receive a free copy of the anthology book during the month of November 2023.

TERMS:
There will be a team of independent judges for each age group who will mark as per the Mentoring Writers' competition requirements.
By entering this competition the writer agrees to allow Mentoring Writers to use the work in a published book and/or in any other outlets such as their website, associate websites, social media, newsletter, etc. However, each entry will remain the copyright of the appropriate writer
SUBMISSIONS:
Entry to this competition is free.
Once you have written your story please submit to -
We will acknowledge your submission by email.
The Closing Date for the Competition will be 30th March 2023. Judging will commence once all entrants have been received.
Results will be announced in August with the book being published in the following October.
